FAQ

Q: How are work files shared between an engineer and draftsperson in seperate offices?
A: Generally, work is shared through email. However, other forms have been utilized, including printer sharing software, instant messaging, ftp sites and good old fashioned hand pick up/delivery.

Q: How detailed does the information from the engineer have to be in order to produce a set of construction documents... Do I have to line everything out so it can be input into AutoCAD exactly like I draw it?
A: You do not have to be a skilled manual draftsman in order to relay your thoughts here. Engineered connection details can be simple sketches. Framing plans can be simple notations of rough joist spacings and beam sizes. Foundation plans can be grade beam depths and rough pier spacings.

Q: When I decide to use Lines & Circles for one of my projects, what do I need to send in order to get things started?
A: Any architectural drawings you have and any verbal or written notes on construction types.

Example of how a project gets completed through markup correspondance:

The architectural drawings are forwarded from the engineer, and a rough set of drawings are prepared by Lines & Circles:

Initial Rough Set

The rough set of drawings are relayed to the engineer for review and markup. Then markups are returned to Lines & Circles:

Initial Markups

The marks are picked up by Lines & Circles and drawings are returned to the engineer for final review:

Midway Set

The engineer marks up the drawings further:

Final Markups

The final drawings are prepared and sent over for the engineer to plot and seal:
